It only makes half-a-dozen so it is good when there are only a few people. My <a href=\"http:\/\/shadowfoot.com\/recipe\/lemonade-scones\">lemonade scones<\/a> recipe makes a much greater amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>225g <a href=\"https:\/\/shadowfoot.com\/recipe\/substitutions\/flour-substitution\/#self-raising-flour\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/shadowfoot.com\/recipe\/substitutions\/flour-substitution\/#self-raising-flour\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">self-raising flour<\/a> (or standard flour plus 1 tsp baking powder)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>55g butter, chopped into small (2-3cm) chunks)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>150ml milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>pinch of salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Preheat oven to 220\u00b0C.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sift dry ingredients into a bowl.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using fingers, rub the butter into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make a well in the mixture and pour in the milk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using a knife, mix it all until it resembles a gooey lump.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turn it onto a floured surface and knead it into a squarish shape, about 2.3cm thick.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Optionally, glaze with milk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place on an ungreased baking tray (I use baking paper) and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the tops are browned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cool for 2-3 minutes on a wire rack covered with a tea towel. This lets the centres go from doughy to crumbly.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Serve with jam and cream.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This recipe comes from Instructables, modified by what I did.
