Whether for a special occasion or an everyday treat, it\u2019s sure to be well received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>125g butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 dessertspoons golden syrup<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00bd cups flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd teaspoon cinnamon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 cup sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd cup milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1-2 tablespoons cocoa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc teaspoon mixed spice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>vanilla<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in \u00bd cup milk (extra)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Melt butter, syrup, sugar, and milk together.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add sifted flour, cocoa, and spices. Stir well.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add vanilla and baking soda in milk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bake for 30 minutes at 180\u00b0C.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ice with chocolate icing when cold.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chocolate Icing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>50g butter, softened<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 cup icing sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tablespoons cocoa powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tablespoons boiling water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sift cocoa and icing sugar together.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add butter and beat well.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add boiling water and beat until creamy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spread over cake and allow to set.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This chocolate cake, shared by my friend Leanne, was a hit during our night-fill supper breaks.
