I made if for the first time and was surprised how easy it was, and so tasty after covering it with whipped cream and fresh fruit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>7 egg whites<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pinch of cream of tartar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 cups caster sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon cornflour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 teaspoons cold water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon vanilla essence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon vinegar <em>(I used white vinegar)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Preheat oven to 145\u00b0C (300\u00b0F)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whisk egg white with cream of tartar until soft peaks form.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whisk in one cup of sugar slowly, followed by the second cup. One of the secrets is to add this sugar very slowly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mix cornflour, cold water, vanilla essence and vinegar together.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fold cornflour mix into egg white mix.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carefully pour onto a baking tray lined with baking paper. It&#8217;s good to pile it high rather than letting it go to wide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bake for 1 hour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carefully remove from oven and allow to cool.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Served covered with whipped cream and optional fresh fruit.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tip<\/strong>: Do not put the cream on it until you are ready to serve it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a foolproof recipe for creating a beautifully light and crisp meringue with a soft, marshmallow-like center.
