I went to the 2005 Vodafone NZ Music Awards last night. It was a fun evening. First Little Bear and I attended a pre-awards party in the council chamgers in the Town Hall. I confess to drinking what I could while it was free. Then across to the Aotea Centre where the awards were held. It was a cash bar there so I only had a couple more.
The MC was good. I forgot that the music industry is predominantly left wing. They fawned over Helen Clark, and dissed Don Brash, who was apparently in the audience. When Helen came on it looked like she was being propped up, but the "award bitches" were doing that with everyone. When she spoke it sounded like she'd enjoyed a few drinks, but maybe it was the PA system that made it sound like she was slurring her words.
The list of finalists and winners is on the above site.
Update: I've heard from a very good friend that Helen Clark never drinks at public events.
