Glyn invited me to dinner last night. It was a spur-of-the-moment invitation. After sitting down, but before Peter brought me a G&T, I saw the reason for the invite: a brand new DVD player, still in the box. He needed someone to connect it up for him. It turned out he had bought both the TV and the DVD player that day. He managed to connect up the TV okay. (I won’t comment about the effects of the auto-tuning.)
It didn’t take me long to connect everything. One day, I will explain to him that the yellow plug goes into the yellow socket, and likewise for the red and white plugs and sockets.
I hardly earned dinner doing that, but he’ll never know as he doesn’t read this. (I’ll send him the link, but I doubt he’ll click on the comments link at the bottom and write something.)
When I go shopping with him for additional cables, he’ll get better reception from Sky; he won’t need to use the aerial input for the decoder. He’ll also be able to use his stereo speakers with the TV.
He was happy to get Prime and Triangle again, as he had lost them when the technician installed Sky for him.
